Xi beach with it's particular red sand
Kefallonia beaches are along the most beautiful in Greece. They extend all around the island and offer a large variety of panorama from white or golden sand to white pebbles and bathed by green or turquoize waters.
You could also find some nice creeks surrounded by verdant hills or by cliffs of clay and limestone...
Some of these beaches also offer the possibility to practice nautical sports.

Xi et Mega Lakos : The Xi beach followed by the Mega Lakos one is situated a few kms from the city of Lixouri and a few hundred meters from our apartments. It's a beautifull beach made of red and orange sand. All around you can find taverns and shops renting nautical sport equipments.
Antisamos : Antisamos Bay is an amazing beauty. Situated close to the village of Sami at 22km from the capital. You'll find there a very nice pebble beach surrounded by verdant hills. Unfortunately this beach is overcrowded during summer.
Myrtos : Myrtos might be the most beautifull beach of the Ionian Islands, if not from Greece. Situated on north of Argotstoli (capitale), this beach of golden sand and turquoize waters is surrounded by impressive cliffs. It natural beauty attracts every years thousand of visitors.
Agios Thomas : The village of Agios Thomas owns two beautifull beaches of thin sand. The first is quiet and you can find there a good tavern along the see. The second beach is a bit larger and offers you a nice view on the bay.

Cave and lake of Melissani
The castle of Haghios Georgios : This catle, which only remains ruins was build on XIII century. It's situated at 320m altitude.
The chasms of Katavothrès (sinkholes) : These chasms are also called the "see mills" because they seems to suck the waters from the see to the undeground river.
The caves and the lake of Melissani : The cave is in 2 parts. The first one is open and you can see a part of the sky. The second one is lighten by electricity and the ceiling is covered with stalactics which for some has the form of dolphins - messenger of the nymphs. The color of the lake change with the sun beams from turquoize to indigo and violet.
The caves of Drogarati : This cave is located at 4km from Sami, this city is one of the main entrance for boats to Kefalonia. These caves are well known for their strange stalagmites and for their particular accoustic. Occasionally, concerts are given in the caves.
The plain of Livathou is filled with hundred-year-old olive trees.

The Archaeological museum of Argostoli : This museum present a rich collection of vases and jewelry that dates back to prehistory until roman period. You can see there sculpture, ceramics, old coins and ustensils dates back to Mycenaen Period.
The Natural History Museum : Situated in center of Davgata village, it was founded by a society in charge of the environment protection of Kefalonia and Ithaki. It goals is to raise awarness of local population on preservation of the specific fauna and flora of those both islands.
The cultural and historical museum of Korghialeneios, and the museum of popular arts : It's situated on the groundfloor of the major library of the island. The museum houses various documents, personnal objects, portraits, ustensils and icons from 15th century.
You will also find an intersting collection of porcelain, embroidery, laces and pictures dating to 19th century.
It also present a collection of pictures taken before and after the earthquake of 1953.
The ecclesiastical museum of Apostole Andreas (Milapedia) : This museum is situated inside the monastery of Milapedia, not far from the village of Pereata. It presents a large collection of objects dedicated to worship.
